Mr. James M. Scott has been in the buying and selling of new and used equipment since 1987 to the present. The type of
equipment include, machine shop, fabricating equipment, stamping equipment, forging equipment, screw machinery, material
handling, foundry and mold, CNC equipment, computers.
He is presently Vice President of Scott Machinery & Supply, Inc., a Helena Alabama firm. He is active in buying and selling
of used and new metal working machinery and accessories. He is active in buying and selling industrial plants. He served for
two years as chairman of the Southeast Chapter of the Machinery Dealers National Association, served 4 years as a Board member
of Machinery Information Services.
Those possessing the AMEA designation are recognized in the used machinery and equipment industry, as well as by banks and
lending institutions, as the authority in providing professional, reliable and accurate appraisal reports on machinery and
equipment.
In order to earn the Accredited Equipment Appraiser designation, Mr. Scott had to possess a minimum of three years experience
in buying, selling, and/or appraising used machinery and equipment in the marketplace, pass the AMEA exam on technical and
ethical issues and submit and pass a review of an unidentifiable appraisal that complies with the AMEA Standards and
Procedures of Professional Appraisal Practice.
Retention of the AMEA certification includes the completion of 70 hours of continuing education every five years, successful appraisal review every two years, complying with all Standards and Procedures of Professional Appraisal Practice, and current and testing as specified by USPAP renewal policies.
